AccorHotels has decided to open up its online booking platform to independent hotels. This move represents a big plus for the group, for hoteliers, for travellers… Basically, everyone’s a winner!

In order to boost its digital presence and arm itself more effectively against the competition from online booking centres, is becoming a marketplace… A first for a hotel group!

A more attractive platform

What does this mean in concrete terms? Thus far, the booking site has been limited to the AccorHotels brands (Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, Ibis, etc.). But by throwing open its platform to independents, the group is now aiming to treble its hotel offering from 3,700 to around 10,000 establishments by 2018. This will expand its service to customers and ensure a more even geographical spread.

Enhanced visibility for independents

130 million visits annually, a booking every 2 seconds, 45 million customers worldwide… The independent hotels will be able to benefit from the renown of a leading global hotel group. Courtesy of, they will gain access to a wide customer base and increase their turnover without any subscription costs or tie-in periods, not to mention commission rates lower than the other online booking centres.

Even greater customer satisfaction

Travelers will benefit too, as in contrast to its competitors, AccorHotels plans to propose a selective offer rather than a comprehensive one. Partner hotels will thus be chosen on the basis of certain qualitative criteria (location, ratings and comments on TripAdvisor, etc.). A visit will also be arranged by the group in order to verify the quality of service.

And as the icing on the cake, nights booked at independent hotels through the site will also earn club members loyalty programme points.
