AccorHotels is now the delighted owner of a palace in Paris! Plus several iconic hotels in London, Singapore and New York. It’s a dream that has come true courtesy of the purchase of the Canadian group Fairmont Raffles Hotels International (FRHI), which is also enabling AccorHotels to boost its presence on the American continent. Why not come visit them with us?
Welcome to the Royal Monceau, AccorHotels’ first Parisian palace hotel! And welcome also to London’s famous Savoy Hotel, or to the Plaza in New York, or the Raffles in Singapore, or… No, we’re not going to list all 155 of the hotels, including 40 currently under development, of which AccorHotels has become the (very) proud owner within the last few weeks.
For a long time, AccorHotels had been looking to reinforce its portfolio in the world of luxury hotels and to expand on the American market. And thanks to the recent purchase of the Canadian group FRHI for 2.7 billion dollars (2.4 billion euros), it’s job done! The dream of becoming a luxury giant has been achieved.
“This acquisition is both historic and strategic”, enthuses Sébastien Bazin, CEO of AccorHotels. “We had a need, a desire, and we had only a low or insufficient presence in North America, despite it being the number one market with 130 million Americans who travel. So it’s the most important takeover in our history.”
The acquisition of FRHI means that AccorHotels can now offer 20 brands instead of 17, and nearly 4,100 hotels, 500 of them in the luxury sector!
